Dr. Rajiv B. Lall

Distinguished Fellow

Dr. Rajiv B. Lall is a veteran economist and business leader. Over his diverse career, he has straddled leadership roles both in business and in public policy. He was the Founder MD & CEO of IDFC Bank and the Executive Chairman of IDFC Ltd. Prior to this, he was a Partner with Warburg Pincus, New York; Head of Asian Economics Research with Morgan Stanley, Hong Kong; and economist at the World Bank, Washington DC., and Asian Development Bank, Manila.

His expertise spans international and macro-economics, banking, capital markets, infrastructure finance, private equity/venture capital and social impact investing, with a particular focus on emerging markets. He has served on number committees of the Government of India and Reserve Bank of India and was India’s representative at the G-20 Working Group on Infrastructure.

He is Co-Founder of Mondiale Impact, and currently, Professorial Research Fellow at the Singapore Management University, where he also serves on the Management Committee of the Singapore Green Finance Centre. Dr Lall has a B.A. in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University.
