Centre for Technology and Innovation

The Centre for Technology and Innovation works on emerging issues in digital technology and on how data and technology can be harnessed to achieve better societal outcomes.

About the Centre

Governments are increasingly using digital infrastructure and platforms to tackle complex, society-wide issues such as social protection and healthcare. This has enormous potential for inclusive development, allowing them to coordinate across ministries and departments, target those most in need, and deliver essential goods and services. However, without well-designed guardrails, digital governance can leave behind those it is meant to help, or compromise their privacy and security.

The Centre for Technology and Innovation works to ensure those guardrails for safe and inclusive digital governance are in place so that technology can be harnessed to achieve better societal and economic outcomes across the world. We produce cutting-edge research that explores the implications of emerging technologies, support governments to create and implement regulatory frameworks, build capacity and convene stakeholders including government agencies, industry leaders, and civil society to develop inclusive solutions that balance innovation with safety and ethical considerations.
