Rajeeva Karandikar is Senior Advisor at Artha Global. He is Professor Emeritus at the Chennai Mathematical Institute and the Chairman of the National Statistical Commission under the Government of India. He was Director of Chennai Mathematical Institute 2011-2021. He has previously held prominent positions such as Professor at the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Delhi and Professor-in-Charge of the Division of Theoretical Statistics and Mathematics at ISI Calcutta. He has also advised the Election Commission of India on electronic voting machine verifications and consulted for the Supreme Court on combating fraud in online examinations. He has pioneered methodologies for opinion polls and seat prediction in Indian elections, working with leading media houses. Rajeeva has a PhD and a Master’s degree in statistics from the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta and a Bachelor’s degree in Science from the University of Indore.
