Richard Atterbury enjoyed a 27 year career in banking in the UK and the US, running global businesses for Morgan Stanley and Lehman Brothers. He was a Vice Chairman at Nomura before leaving to focus on board activities and not for profit initiatives. He was Chairman of New Philanthropy Capital, a UK thinktank and established his own charity in Myanmar, focusing on special needs education. Richard’s focus on Myanmar includes being a trustee of Prospect Burma, an education charity, and a trustee of the Irrawaddy Policy Exchange, dedicated to improving public services in the country. Richard is also on the board of the Media Development Investment Fund, which invests in media companies around the world where free media is under threat. Richard is also chairman of Alta Advisers and Skagen Conscience Capital, (two family offices) and Agfe Limited, a financial services company. He is also a board director of Lioncourt Homes, a UK housebuilder.
