Avni was a Senior Consultant with Artha India. Prior to joining Artha, she has worked with on data ethics, privacy, systems and policies with Harvard University, the World Bank Group, and J-PAL. Between 2019 and 2021, Avni was responsible for the design and execution of various governance initiatives from the Chief Secretary’s office in Punjab, including the COVID-19 pandemic management. She has earlier contributed to various projects towards data driven decision making with the state Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Avni holds a degree from the MCMPA Edward Mason Program from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government where she was also the Editor of the Gender Policy Journal. She has an MBA from the Indian School of Business where she was awarded with the Torch Bearer Award and the Develop India Scholarship.

Outside of work, Avni is a fitness enthusiast and an avid reader. She also extensively publishes articles in the media on matters related to governance, government capacity, and public data.
