Artha Global and the Indian School of Public Policy (ISPP), building on their past interventions and expertise in public policy, have entered a partnership to develop urban-focused capacity-building initiatives for state and local governments in India
Artha Global, a policy organisation that supports global partners to design, implement, and institutionalise practices that promote prosperity and resilience, is thrilled to announce a partnership with the Indian School of Public Policy (ISPP), an institution that aims to develop a new class of policy leaders for India. This collaboration aims to develop urban-focused capacity-building programmes tailored for state and local governments in India to address key development challenges in cities.
In the next two decades, India will build multiple new cities, and expand existing ones. How these cities are built and managed will matter greatly for India’s future, particularly when it comes to equitable economic growth and the country’s long-term emissions trajectory. Many of the challenges Indian cities face today have their origin in poor planning. These include air pollution, poor productivity, unaffordable real estate, large scale informality and lack of access to basic services.
Both Artha Global, and ISPP have a track record of working with governments and the broader public policy ecosystem to build capacity to address key challenges. Artha Global’s team has worked on urban issues for over a decade. This program aims to equip mid to senior civil servants, and city managers with the necessary skills to design and deliver impactful policy interventions using principles of urban planning. This partnership goes beyond training programmes and includes collaborative research projects, joint publications, and curriculum development, creating a comprehensive framework for continuous growth. We look forward to deepening this relationship and helping make Indian cities more liveable, sustainable, and equitable.
