Reuben Abraham, CEO, Artha Global, was awarded the prestigious Emergent Ventures fellowship and grant on August 22, 2022, as part of the grant program’s fourth India cohort. Emergent Ventures, an incubator fellowship and grant program from the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, is aimed at social entrepreneurs with highly scalable ideas for meaningfully improving society. Abraham has received the grant to build and expand Artha Global, a public policy research and consulting organisation based in Mumbai and London, with a mission to help governments in the developing world design policies that promote inclusive prosperity and freedom for citizens.

This year’s Emergent Ventures India awardees include social entrepreneurs, researchers, engineers, physicists, journalists and students with a range of initiatives, from building a public policy institution to a startup that converts carbon emissions into building materials to developing AI platforms for journalism. Emergent Ventures bets on ‘moonshot’ ideas — transformative, bold ideas which can bring positive social change.

Reuben Abraham was earlier named ‘Think Tanker of the Year 2022’ by the UK-based Prospect Magazine for putting together a large platform that enabled inter-disciplinary work to tackle the Covid-19 crisis in India.
